fut. -ελάσω [ ]: aor. συνέλασσα: pf. part. συνεληλάμενος Arat. 176 (on the accent, v. A.D. Adv. 135.5, al.), but συνεληλαμένος Plb. 4.48.2, Aret. SA 2.1: plpf. -ηλάσμην LXX 2 Maccabees 4:26 : aor. Pass. -ηλάσθην Plb. 18.22.6, LXX 2 Maccabees 5:5, Plu. Caes. 17, BGU 1568.7 (iii A.D.). Used by Hom. only in pres. and aor. (exc. σὺν δ' ἤλασε in tmesi); he uses the form ξυν- where required by the metre:

drive together, ληΐδα δ' ἐκ πεδίου συνελάσσαμεν Il. 11.677; τὰς μὲν [βοῦς] συνέλασσεν ἐς αὔλιον h.Merc. 106, cf. X. Cyr. 1.4.14; σὺν δ' ἤλασ' ὀδόντας drove his teeth together, Od. 18.98; hammer together, Plu. 2.567e; weld iron, Hp. Vict. 1.13; draw together, συνέλασσε κάρη χεῖράς τε h.Merc. 240; drive, force, τινὰ εἰς ὀλοὴν κῆρα AP 7.614.10 (Agath.), cf. Jul. 89b; ς. εἰς στενόν Luc. 2. constrain, force, τινὰ ἀποστῆναι τῶν οὐ δικαίως αὐτῷ προσηκόντων Sammelb. 5357.11 (v A.D.); ς. τινὰ πρὸς εὐγνωμοσύνην bring him to reason, ib. 13 (Pass.), cf. PLond. 5.1711.60 (vi A.D.); εἰς τέλος ς. bring to an end, PMonac. 13.70 (vi A.D.).

Thayer's Expanded Definition

συναλλάσσω: (see καταλλάσσω); to reconcile (Thucydides, Xenophon, Plato, Dio Cassius; in different senses by different secular authors): συνήλλασσεν αὐτούς εἰς εἰρήνην (Vulg. reconciliabat, i. e. sought to reconcile), conative imperfect (cf. Buttmann, 205 (178); R. V. would have set them at one again), Acts 7:26 L T Tr WH (see συνελαύνω).

STRONGS NT 4900: συνελαύνω συνελαύνω: 1 aorist συνήλασα; from Homer down; to drive together, to compel; tropically, to constrain by exhortation, urge: τινα εἰς εἰρήνην, to be at peace again, Acts 7:26 R G (εἰς τόν τῆς σοφίας ἐρωτᾷ, Aelian v. h. 4, 15).
