I according as, just as, IG 12.90.43, 116.27, Men. Mon. 551, PCair.Zen. 188.8 (iii B.C.), Plb. 3.107.10, LXX Genesis 7:9, etc.; ὁ κ. παρατεταγμένος σφυγμός the (so to speak) 'regular' pulse (a military metaphor), Archig. ap. Gal. 8.626.

II also καθάπερ, Ion. κατάπερ, Philol. 14, Democr. 164, Hdt. 1.182, al., Ar. Eq. 8, Ec. 61, IG 12.39.42, al., D. 37.16, etc.: freq. in legal instruments, ἡ πρᾶξις ἔστω κ. ἐκ δίκης PEleph. 1.12 (iv B.C.), etc.: with a part., like ὡς, ἅτε, D.C. 37.54 (nisi leg. καίπερ): strengthd., καθάπερ εἰ (Ion. κατάπερ εἰ, Hdt. 1.170), like as if, exactly as, Pl. This late form for καθάπερ is first used in literature by Polybius, and is frequently found in the papyri, e.g. P Petr II. 13(1).5 (B.C. 258–3) καθὰ ἐξειλήφαμεν, ";according as we have received,"; P Ryl II. 160(d)ii. 18 (A.D. 42) καθὰ καίγραπται (l. γέγραπται), ";as aforesaid,"; P Oxy XII. 1473.10 (A.D. 201) συμβιούτωσαν οὖν ἀλλήλοις οἱ γαμοῦντες ἀμέμπτως καθὰ καὶ πρότερον συνεβίουν. Cf. from the inscrr. Michel 1009 B.81 (c. B.C. 129) εἰς ] τὸν ἀεὶ χρόνον καθὰ ἐξ ἀρχῆς ὑπῆρχεν, and the reff. in Kälker Quaest. p. 300. See also Meisterhans Gr. p. 257.
