זְמָן plur. זְמַנֶּים m. time, especially a stated time (Arabic زَمَنُ, زَمَانُ time. Syr. ܙܒܰܢ id.), Ecclesiastes 3:1, לַכֹּל זְמָן “its own time for every thing,” i.e. every thing remains only so long, all things are frail and fleeting, Nehemiah 2:6; Esther 9:27, 31. It is a word of a later age used instead of the more ancient עֵת. [This remark (omitted in Thes.) takes for granted what cannot be admitted, that Solomon did not write the book of Ecclesiastes.]
