Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

תָּמִיד m.

(1) subst. perpetuity, continuance (so called from proceeding, going on, root מוּד, compare עַד from the root עָדָה, דוֹר and תְּדִירָא from דּוּר). In genit. put after other substantives it is used as an adjective (compare קֹדֶשׁ No. 1), as אַנְשֵׁי תָמִיד “men of continuance,” i.e. hired for continuous work, Ezekiel 39:14 עוֹלַת הַתָּמִיד a continual burnt-offering, i.e. daily, both morning and evening, Numbers 28:6, 10 Numbers 28:10, 15 Numbers 28:15, 23 Numbers 28:23, 24 Numbers 28:24. לֶחֶם הַתָּמִיד the continual bread, i.q. לֶחֶם פָּנִים Numbers 4:7.

(2) for עוֹלַת הַתָּמִיד Daniel 8:11, 12, 13 11:31.

(3) adv. continually, Psalms 16:8, 25:15 34:2.
