I make old, LXX Job 9:5, al.: mostly in Pass., decay through lapse of time, οἱ παλαιούμενοι νεκροί Arist. Mete. 390a22; κηρὸς παλαιούμενος Id. HA 557b6, al.; τὸ.. παλαιούμενον Pl. Smp. 208b, cf. Ti. 59c; τὸ ἱερὸν πεπαλαιῶσθαι Sammelb. 5827.11 (i B. C.); πεπαλαιωμένον ἔκπτωμα βραχίονος one which is of long standing, Hp. παλαιόω, παλαιῷ: perfect πεπαλαίωκα; passive, present participle παλαιουμενος; future παλαιωθήσομαι; (παλαιός);

a. to make ancient or old, the Sept. for בִּלָּה; passive to become old, to be worn out, the Sept. for בָּלָה, עָתַק: of things worn out by time and use, as βαλάντιον, Luke 12:33; ἱμάτιον, Hebrews 1:11 (cf. Psalm 101:27 (); Deuteronomy 29:5; Joshua 9:19 (); Nehemiah 9:21; Isaiah 50:9; Isaiah 51:6; Sir. 14:17). passive τό παλαιούμενον, that which is becoming old, Hebrews 8:13 (Plato, symp., p. 208 b.; Tim., p. 59 c.).

b. to declare a thing to be old and so about to be abrogated: Hebrews 8:13 (see γηράσκω, at the end).

to make or declare old: Hebrews 8:13; pass., to become old: of things worn out by time and use (cf. John 9:13, Isaiah 50:9, al., and see παλαιός ), Luke 12:33, Hebrews 1:11 (LXX); τὸ παλαιούμενον , Hebrews 8:13 (where this and the act., v. supr., may have the sense of abrogate, v. LS, Zorell, s.v.).†

The subst. occurs in P Strass I. 22.30 (iii/A.D.) οὐδεμίαν παρείσδυσιν ἔχεις, ἡ γὰ ̣ρ ̣ γ ̣[υν ]η ̣̣ ἐν τῇ νομῇ γέγονεν ̣ πολλῷ χρόνῳ, ";you cannot creep in, for the woman has been in possession for a long time"; : the sense is just that of Judges 1:4 παρεισεδύησαν (2 aor. pass. for 2 aor. act., Blass Gr. p. 43) γάρ τινες ἄνθρωποι.
