בּוּת Ch. to pass the night, Daniel 6:19. In Targg. often for לִין. Syr. ܒܳܬ id.; and, to delay, to remain. Arab. بَاتَ Med. Ye; Eth. ቤተ፡ to pass the night, to remain. Hence is commonly derived בַּיִת house; but see under that word.
