תִּמְנָה (“a part assigned”), with ה local תִּמְנָתָה [Timnab, Timnath], pr.n. of an ancient town of the Canaanites (Genesis 38:12), first given to the tribe of Judah (Joshua 15:10, 57 Joshua 15:57), then to the Danites (Joshua 19:43), which was however long subject to the Philistines (Judges 14:1; 2 Chronicles 28:18 compare Jos. Arch. v. 8, § 5); Gent. תִּמְנִי Judges 15:6.
