Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

שָׁנַס not used in Kal; perhaps to force, to bind together; kindred to אָנַס (the aspirate and sibilant being interchanged). Chald. שְׁנַץ, שְׁנָץ thongs. More remote is the Arab. شنص to be infolded, to adhere.

Piel, שִׁנֵּס to gird up (the loins) 1 Kings 18:46. So all the ancient versions, as required by the context.
