II. [קֶ֫לַע]15 noun [masculine] curtain, hanging (P); — plural absoluteקְעִים Exodus 27:9 7t. Exodus; construct קַעֵי Exodus 35:17 4t. Exodus; Numbers 3:26; Numbers 4:26. — 1 Kings 6:34 b read צְלָעִים.
קֶלַע masc.
(1) a sling. Arab مقْلاَعُ, 1 Samuel 17:40.
(2) a vail, Exodus 27:9, seqq.; 35:17 Numbers 3:26. (Chald. id., Arab. قِلْعُ sail of a ship, IV. to sail, to navigate. Eth. ቀልዐ፡ the sail is taken in; but how this signification can be reconciled to the former (No. 1), I cannot say). 1 Kings 6:34 for קְלָעִים apparently we ought to read, צְלָעִים leaves of a door, which is found in the former hemistich, and MS. Kennic. No. 150.
