Qal Perfect 3 plural וּפָֽרְשׂוּ Micah 3:3 they have broken up bones, as in kettle (? read Imperfect וַיִפְרְשׂוּ Nö i.c.); Infinitive abs. מָּרֹס לָרָעֵב לַחְמֶ֑ךָ Isaiah 58:7 a breaking for the hungry thy bread, so Imperfect 3 masculine plural יִפְרְסוּלָהֶם Jeremiah 16:7 (לֶחֶם omitted; but read לֶחֶם אֶלאָֿבֵל׳יִפ Gie, compare [in part] ᵐ5 Valgate Gf); Participle פֹרֵשׂ לֶהֶם Lamentations 4:4 (accusative לֶחֶם omitted).

פָּרַס to break, only in Kal in the phrase פָּרַס לֶחֶם לְ to break one’s bread to any one; i.e. to distribute it, Isaiah 58:7 and without לֶחֶם Jerem. 16:7. Compare פָּרַשׁ No. 1.
Hiphil
(1) to cleave, to divide. Levit. 11:4, וּפַרְסָה אֵינֶנּוּ מַפְרִיס “but cleaveth not the hoof,” i.e. has not the hoof altogether cloven. Elsewhere
(2) הִפְרִיס פַּרְסָה Levit. 11:3, Leviticus 11:6, Leviticus 11:7, 26 Leviticus 11:26; Deuteronomy 14:7, Deuteronomy 14:8 and without פַּרְסָה is nothing more than to have (pr. to make or produce) a cloven hoof.

פָּרַס in pause פָּרָ֑ס pr.n. Heb. and Ch. Persia, the Persians, 2 Chronicles 36:20, 22 2 Chronicles 36:22; Ezra 1:1, 4:5, seqq.; 6:14 Daniel 5:28, 6:9, 13. Pers. يارس, نارس, فرس. Hence Gent. noun פַּרְסִי a Persian, Nehem. 12:22 and Ch. emphat. פַּרְסָיָא Dan. 6:29.
