פָּעָה an onomatopoetic word

(1)  to call, to cry out; once used of a parturient woman, Isaiah 42:14 (Syr. and Chal. ܦܥܐܳ, פָּעָא to bleat, to bellow; compare Gr. βοάω; whence βοῦς, bos. Similar is גָּעָה γοάω; which see).

(2) to blow, to hiss as a serpent, viper; Arab. فعى; whence אֶפְעֶה a viper. From No. 1, is
