פסס (√of following; see Biblical Hebrew I. פסס, [מַּס]).
פַּס prop. extremity (from the root פָּסַס No. I.), i.q. Ch. and Syr. ܦܰܣܬܐܳ, with יְדָא, ܐܝܺܕܐܳ the hand, and ܪܓܶܐܳܐ the sole of the foot. Hence כְּתֹנֶת פַּסִּים Genesis 37:3, 23 Genesis 37:23; 2 Samuel 13:18, 19 2 Samuel 13:19, a tunic extending to the wrists and ancles, a long tunic with sleeves, worn by boys and girls of nobler rank. Joseph. Arch. vii. 8, § 1, ἐφόρουν γὰρ αἱ τῶν ἀρχαίων παρθένοι χειροδέτους ἄχρι τῶν σφυρῶν πρὸς τὸ μηδὲ βλέπεσθαι χιτῶνας, which has been well explained and defended by A. Th. Hartmann, Hebräerin, iii. 280. Also LXX. and Aqu. Sam. καρπωτός, Symm. χειριδωτός, Aqu. Gen. ἀστραγάλειος (talaris).-As to the forms of the tunic worn by women and by men of more noble rank, see Braunins, De Vestitu Sacerd. p. 473, seq.; Schroeder, De Vest. Mulierum, p. 237, seq.; Böttigeri Sabina, ii. 94, seq.; 115, seq.
פַּס Ch. with יְדָא the hand (prop. the extremity of the hand, i.e. the hand which is an extremity), Daniel 5:5, 24. See Hebr. and compare אֶפֶס No. 2.
