פַּחַת m. (2 Samuel 18:17), pl. פְּחָתִים f. (2 Samuel 17:9), a pit; often used as a figure of destruction, Psalms 7:16; Lamentations 3:47; Isaiah 24:17, by paronomasia, וָפַח עָלֶיךָ פַּחַד וָפַחַת “fear, and the pit, and the snare are upon thee;” Jeremiah 48:43. The fem. is פְּחֶתֶת.
