מֶלֶט m. cement, so called from being spread or smoothened over (Syr. ܡܠܰܛ to spread, to smear, which is itself from the notion of smoothness, see מָלַט). Arab. مِلَاطُ, Syr. ܡܠܳܛܐܳ id., also Gr. μάλθη, Lat. maltha, Ital. malta, Jeremiah 43:9.
