1060) nc (גנ GN) AC: ? CO: Garden AB: Protection: The pictograph c is a picture of the foot and means to walk with an extended meaning to gather. The n is a picture of a sprouting seed. Combined these mean "a gathering of seeds". A garden is a place for growing crops and is often surrounded by a rock wall or hedge to protect it from grazing animals. מְגִנָּה f. a covering (from the root גָּנַן); once Lamentations 3:65, מְגִנַּת־לֵב “covering of the heart,” i.e. hardening, obstinacy; compare κάλυμμα ἐπὶ τὴν καρδίαν, 2 Corinthians 3:15 and Arab. أَكِنَّةُ على القلوب coverings over hearts, Koran vi. 25; xvi. 48. Kimchi rightly compared fatness of heart, Isaiah 6:10 but Jos. Kimchi (the father) comparing Arab. القلب غاشية (i.e. veiling of the heart, failing of mind), understands failing of mind, mortal disease.
