Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

כִּיס m. contr. from כֵּנֶס from the root כָּנַס, like כּוֹס (which see), and כֹּנֶס a purse, bag (Syr. and Arab. id.), in which money was kept, Proverbs 1:14; Isaiah 46:6 and in which traders were accustomed to carry about their weights for weighing goods (see Chardin, Voyage, tom. iii. p. 420), Deuteronomy 25:13; Micah 6:11. Hence אַבְנֵי כִיס, Proverbs 16:11.
