אֲחַסְבַּי [Ahasbai], pr.n. or a man, 2 Samuel 23:34. The etymology is unknown. Simonis considers it to be contracted from אֶחֱםֶה בְּהַי “I flee to the Lord.” [So Ges. in corr.].
