חֶרְפָּה f.
(1) reproach, scorn, contempt
(a) shewn to any one, Job 16:10; Psalms 39:9, 79:12, pass. Micah 6:16, חֶרְפַּת עַמִּי “the reproach of my people,” i.e. the reproach which the people cast upon me
(b) which rests upon any one. Isaiah 54:4, “the reproach of widowhood,” i.e. which rests on widows. Joshua 5:9, “the reproach of Egypt,” i.e. the stigma resting on Israel from the time of their departure out of Egypt, Isaiah 25:8; Jeremiah 31:19; Ezekiel 36:30.
(2) Figuratively a person or thing which is despised, Nehemiah 2:17; Psalms 22:7; Joel 2:17, 19 Joel 2:19. Plural חֲרָפוֹת Psalms 69:10; Daniel 12:2.
(3) pudenda, Isaiah 47:3.
