 [חֶ֫דֶל] noun [masculine] cessation, only יוֺשְׁבֵי חָ֑דֶל Isaiah 38:11 (so Baer) inhabitants of (land of) cessation, i.e. of She'ôl; see Di; but read rather חָ֑לֶד, see חֶלֶד.

Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

חֶדֶל m. Hades, prop. the place of rest, Isaiah 38:11. See the root תָדַל No. 1, ; comp. דּוּמִיָּח. [If this be the import of this word, the whole verse must be construed thus: “I said, I shall not see Jah even Jah in the land of the living; I shall behold man no more; with (i.e. when I am with) the inhabitants of Hades.”]
