Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

דַּחֲוָה f. pl. דַּחֲוָן, Ch. a concubine (from the root דְּחָה, Arabic دَحَا and ذَحَا subegit feminam). Daniel 6:19, וְדַחֲוָן לָא־הַנְעֵל קֳדָמוֹהִי “nor did he allow concubines to be brought in to him.” Theodot. and the Syriac arbitrarily interpret it food; the Hebrew interpreters better, “musical instruments,” especially such as were struck.
