this Strong's Number
Qal Imperfect 3 feminine singular תָּדוּץ דְּאָבָה Job 41:14 before him danceth dismay.
דוק (? √ of following; meaning dubious compare Sm Ezekiel 4:2 Lag Ges. Abhandl. 36).
דּוּץ to leap, to dance. Job 41:14, וּלְפָנָיו תָּדוּץ דְּאָבָה “before him dances terror.” The trepidation of terror is thus well compared to skipping; comp. Psalms 29:6. To this answers the Arabic داص Med. Waw and Ye, see Schult. on the passage; Syr. ܕܘܽܨ in New Test. for σκιρτᾶν; Chald. דּוּץ, whence דִּיצָא a wild goat, Lacon. δίζα. Kindred roots are דּוּשׁ, דָּרַשׁ. These are contracted or softened from דנץ (like הוּךְ from הָלַךְ, אוּץ from אָלַץ, עוּק from עָנַק), by which dancing is expressed in the Slavonic and German languages, tanz, danza, taniec, see Adelung, iv. 530, 31.
