גְּוִיָּה f.
(1) body (pr. belly, like the Syr. ܓܘܳܝܐܳ Leib). Ezekiel 1:11, 23 Ezekiel 1:23; Daniel 10:6. Genesis 47:18, “nothing remains … בִּלְתּי אִם־גְּוִיָּתֵנוּ וְאַדְמָתֵנוּ but our bodies and our lands.” Nehemiah 9:37, עַל־גְּוִיֹּתֵנוּ משְׁלִים וּבִבְהֶמְתֵּנוּ “they have dominion over our bodies and our cattle.”
(2) a dead body, corpse, both of men, 1 Samuel 31:10, 12 1 Samuel 31:12; Nahum 3:3 and of beasts, Judges 14:8, Judges 14:9.
