";Chuza,"; a house-steward of Herod Antipas (Luk. 8:3). The name has been found in a Nabataean inscr. making it probable that Chuza was not a Jew hut a Nabataean : see F. C. Burkitt in Exp V. ix. p 118 ff. (cf. Syriac Forms, p. 6), where also Blass’s contention (Philology of the Gospels, p. 152 f.) on the evidence of l , a vii/A.D. Old Latin version, that Chuza was also called Cydias, is criticized.
