A.D. 104) ἵν᾽ ὅσου ἐὰν χρείαν ἔχωσι ὑδάτους (= -ος) ἑαυ [τοῖς ἐ ]πιχαλῶσι, ";that they may draw off for themselves as much water as they need"; (Edd.). The subst. χάλασμα occurs in Preisigke 428.7 (B.C. 99), al. In MGr χαλάω = ";break to pieces"; and χάλασμα = ";ruin.";
