ταράσσω in the metaph. sense ";trouble,"; ";disquiet,"; ";perplex,"; as in Matthew 2:3 al., is seen in P Tebt II. 315.15 (ii/A.D.) τοιγαροῦν [μη ]δὲν ταραχ [θ ]ῇς, ";do not be disturbed on this account"; (Edd.), and Syll 373 (= .3 810).13 (i/A.D.) οὓς ἐπὶ τῇ ψευδῶς ἐπι [σ ]τολῇ πρὸς ὑμᾶς κομισθείσῃ τῷ τῶν ὑπάτων ὀνόματι ταραχθέντες πρός με ἐπέμψατε. For a somewhat more literal meaning ";stir up,"; as in Acts 17:8; Acts 17:13, cf. P Oxy II. 298.27 (i/A.D.) πάλι γὰρ πάντα ταράσσει, ";for he is upsetting everything again"; (Edd.), and P Giss I. 40ii. 20 (A.D. 212–5) (= Chrest. I. p. 38) τα ̣ράσσουσι τὴν πόλιν. MGr ταράζω (—άσσω), ";perplex.";
