Epin. 988b: c. dat. pers., τὸν συναλγοῦντα καὶ ς. τῷ φίλῳ Arist. EN 1166a8; οὐ ς. οὐδὲ συναλγεῖν ἑαυτοῖς ib. 1166b18: later in Med., IG 14.966.5 (Rome, ii A.D. ). συγχαίρω (T WH συνχαίρω (cf. σύν, II. at the end)); imperfect συνέχαιρον; 2 aorist συνεχαρην (passive as set., so Veitch (under the word χαίρω) etc.; others, active, after the analogy of verbs in ); to rejoice with, take part in another's joy (Aeschyl, Aristophanes, Xenophon, others): with a dative of the person with whom one rejoices, Luke 1:58 (cf. 14); ; with a dative of the thing, 1 Corinthians 13:6; to rejoice together, of many, 1 Corinthians 12:26; to congratulate (Aeschines, Polybius (Plutarch; cf. Lightfoot on Phil. as below; 3Macc. 1:8; the Epistle of Barnabas 1, 3 [ET] (and Müller at the passage))): with the dative of the person Philippians 2:17f.

(from εἶμι, ";go";), ";come together,"; is found in the NT only in Luke 8:4. All Preisigke’s exx. from the papyri are late, e.g. P Lond V. 1674.49 (c. A.D. 570) and ib. 1686.31 (A.D. 565).
