ῤαβδίζω; 1 aorist passive ἐρραβδίσθην, and (so L T Tr WH) ἐραβδίσθην (see Rho); (ῤάβδος); to beat with rods: Acts 16:22; 2 Corinthians 11:25. (Judges 6:11; Ruth 2:17; Aristophanes, Diodorus, others.)

a late form of σαίρω, ";sweep."; For the pass., as in Matthew 12:44, cf. P Giss I. 11.19 (A.D. 118) (= Chrest. I. p. 524) ὥστε σαρωθῆναί σου τὸν νομόν. See also Herm. Sim. ix. 10. 3 αἱ δὲ παρθένοι λαβοῦσαι σάρους ἐσάρωσαν (cf. Luke 15:8). The subst. is found in P Oxy XIV. 1692.11 (A.D. 188) σάρωσις φύλλων.
