2. ἡ τῆς ἀσωτίας ἀ. excess of profligacy, 1 Peter 4:4; τοῦ ἀλόγου πάθους Ph. 1.695; of enthusiasm, Metrod. Herc. 831.13.

II expanse of water, e.g. estuary, Str. 3.1.9: pl., ἀ. θαλάττης inundations, Max.Tyr. 38.3; ἀνάχυσιν λαμβανούσης τῆς θαλάσσης Ocell. 3.4.

ἀνάχυσις, ἀναχυσεως, (ἀναχέω (to pour forth)), rare in Greek writings (Strabo, Philo, Plutarch; ἀνχυσις ψυχῆς, in a good sense, Philo de decal. § 10 middle); an overflowing, a pouring out: metaphorically, 1 Peter 4:4 ἀσωτίας ἀνάχυσις the excess (flood) of riot in which a dissolute life pours itself forth.

For the metaphorical use of this word in 1 Peter 4:4 εἰς τὴν αὐτὴν τῆς ἀσωτίας ἀνάχυσιν we may cite Philo Somn. II. 42 . τοῦ ἀλόγου πάθους. We have no vernacular parallels.
