Vocabulary of the Greek NT

P Tebt I. 28.20 (c. B.C. 114) ὑπ᾽ αὐτ ̣[ῶν ] τούτων ἀναστόμενοι εὐμαρεστέρ [α ]ν ἀσχολ ̣ι ̣[αν ], ";may be thereby incited to make easier for us the performance of our duty"; (Edd.), i.e. to the Government—a curious contrast to the normal connotation of the verb, as in Mark 15:11, Luke 23:5. For the literal meaning see Syll 789.36 (iv/B.C.) ὁ δ᾽ ἐπ [ι ]σ [τ ] [τη ]ς [ἀνασ ] είσας τ [ ]ν ὑδρίαν τὴν χαλκῆν ἑλκέτω τὸν καττ [ ]-τ [ε ]ρον ἑκάτερον ἐμ μέρει.
