Vocabulary of the Greek NT

This compound verb, which in Acts 7:41 takes the place of ἐποίησε μόσχον in Exodus 32:4, is claimed by Blass (ad Ac l.c.) as an example of the faculty which the Greek language never lost of forming new words. No other instance of it occurs in the LXX or in profane writers, but it follows the model of the Platonic εἰδωλοποιέω (Rep. 605 C); cf. εἰδοποιέω (Plut. Alex, I), ἀγαλματοποιέω, εἰκονοποιέω.
