κατα-ψύχω [ῡ],
1. cool, chill, ὕδωρ κ. τὴν ξηρὰν ἀναθυμίασιν Arist. Mete. 361a2, cf. 368b34; ὁ φόβος καταψύχει Id. PA 650b28, cf. Pr. 954b13, al.; αἱ ἄτομοι.. κατέψυξαν [τὸ σῶμα ] Epicur. Fr. 60: — Pass., fut. - ψῠγήσομαι Vett.Val. 73.21: pf. - έψυγμαι: aor. - εψύχθην, also - εψύγην [ῠ ] Arist. Pr. 897a22: — to be chilled, become cold, Hp. Aph. 4.40, Arist. HA 531b31, etc.; of persons, κατεψυγμένοι, opp. θερμοί, Id. Rh. 1389b30.

καταψύχω is peculiar in the NT to Luke (16:24) : cf. Hobart, p. 32. Jos. B.J, i. 66 τὴν ὅρμην οὐ κατέψυξαν, ";they did not suffer their zeal to cool.";
