P Par 22.17 (ii/B.C.) μέχρι τοῦ νῦν οὐ τετόλμηκεν αὐτὸν ἡ Νέφορις θάψαι, BGU IV. 1131.35 (B.C. 13) ἐπεὶ ἡ ἐμὴ. . . μήτηρ. . μετήλ (λαχε) καὶ. . χι. . . . . . οὐδέπω τετάφθαι, ὁ ̣μ ̣ο ̣λ ̣ο ̣γ ̣ω ̣ι ̣ κτλ., ib. 1024iv. 2 (iv/v A.D.) ν ̣ε ̣κ ̣ροῦ [μετ᾽εὐσε ]βείας ταφθέν [τος. In P Giss I. 68.7 (ii/A.D.) δεῖ αὐτὸν δευτέρᾳ ταφῇ ταφῆναι, the meaning seems to be that the body must be buried in a second mummy-wrapping : see further s.v. ταφή. On the mummy-ticket Preisigke 3580 we read, Ἀπολλώνιος. . . . Ἀθὺρ ι ̄γ ̄ ε ̣̓τάφη : cf. Meyer Ostr 68.4 (ii/A.D.) ἐτάφησεν Θὼτ ιδ ̄. The verb appears in MGr as θάβω, θάφτω, with a subst. θαφτό = ";grave,"; and a nomen actionis θάψιμο = ";burial.";
