1. intr., withdraw, retreat, X. Cyr. 4.1.3; revert, ἐπὶ τὴν ἀρχήν Plb. 3.5.9, etc.; recur, in argument, ὅθεν ἐξέβην Jul. Or. 7.226c; return, ἐπὶ ὕψιστον LXX Si. 17.26; turn back, ἀπὸ δικαιοσύνης εἰς ἁμαρτίαν ib. 26.28.

2. ἐ. τῷ σώματι recover one's health, Apollon.Perg. Con. 1 Praef. put out to sea, τὸ κέρας ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς X. HG 6.2.28: abs., Luke 5:3 : Pass., put to sea against, τινί Hdt. 9.98; ἐπανάγεσθαι ταῖς ναυσί with one's ships, Th. 8.42: abs., Hdt. 7.194, X. HG 2.1.24; ἐπὶ τὴν Χίον ib. 1.6.38; sail up the Nile, Pstrassb. 102.19 (iii B.C.). Pass., also, to be carried to a place, ἐπαναχθέντας Hdt. 4.103, where however the v.l. ἐπαναχθέντες (in signf. iv) is to be preferred.

Thayer's Expanded Definition

ἐπανάγω; 2 aorist infinitive ἐπαναγαγεῖν, imperative ἐπανάγαγε (participle ἐπαναγαγων, Matthew 21:18 T WH text Tr marginal reading);

1. literally, to lead up upon, namely, τό πλοῖον, a ship upon the deep, i. e. to put out, Luke 5:3 (Xenophon, Hell. 6, 2, 28; 2 Macc. 12:4); with εἰς τό βάθος added, into the deep, ibid. 4.

2. to lead back; intransitive, to return (cf. Buttmann, 144 (126)): Matthew 21:18; (2 Macc. 9:21; Xenophon, Cyril 4, 1, 3; Polybius, Diodorus, Josephus, Herodian, others).
