ἐξω-τέρω,
Adv., Comp. of ἔξω, more outside, δρόμου ἐ. A. Ch. 1023, cf. Arist. Metaph. 1055a25, LXX Job 18:17, etc.: —
hence later, Adj. ἐξώτερος, outer, LXX Exodus 26:4, etc., Matthew 8:12; ξυστός POxy. 896.14 (iv A.D.).
ἐξώτερος, ἐξωτέρᾳ, ἐξώτερον (a comparative from ἔξω, cf. ἐσώτερος, ἀνώτερος, κατώτερος), outer: τό σκότος τό ἐξώτερον, the darkness outside the limits of the lighted palace (to which the Messiah's kingdom is here likened), Matthew 8:12; Matthew 22:13; Matthew 25:30. ((the Sept.; Strabo, others).)

An adj. ἐξωτικός, which survives in MGr, is found in the vi/A.D. PSI IV. 284.2 τῶν ὑπό σε ἐξω [τ ]ικω ̣ν ̣ ἀρουρ (ῶν). Cf also MGr ξωτικό, ";ghost.";
