1. Pass., ἐπ' αἰσχραῖς αἰτίαις ἐξελήλεγκται Lys. 6.44; ὑπὸ τῶν εἰκότων Antipho 2.1.9; ἔκ τινος Ar. Ra. 960; ἐξελεγχόμενος περί τινος Pl. Hp.Ma. 304d; ὑπ' ἐμοῦ ἐξελεγχθήσονται ἔργῳ Id. Revelation 17:1-18 b.

Ra. 1366; ἐ. τὴν τύχην, τὰς ἐλπίδας, Plb. 21.14.4, 1.62.4; ἐ. τοὺς Θηβαίους εἰ διαμαχοῦνται Plu. Ages. 19: — Pass., πάντες ἦσαν ἐξεληλεγμένοι all had had their sentiments well ascertained, D. 18.23; ἃ δ' ἡ φύσις ἀεὶ ἐβούλετο, ἐξηλέγχθη ἐς τὸ ἀληθές was fully proved to be true, Th. 3.64; χρυσὸς μὲν οἶδεν ἐξελέγχεσθαι πυρί Men. 691.
2. Medic., find out one's weak points, Gal. 15.902: — Pass., Id. 6.323.
III compute, χαλκὸν μυρίον Pi. N. 10.46. establish a claim to, ὀγδοήκοντα τάλαντα D. 38.20.
ἐξελέγχω: 1 aorist infinitive ἐξἐλέγξαι; (ἐξ strengthens the simple verb (cf. ἐκ, VI. 6)); to prove to be in the wrong, convict, (chiefly in Attic writings): by punishing, τινα περί τίνος, Jude 1:15 Rec. (see ἐλέγχω, 1) of God as judge, as in Isaiah 2:4; Micah 4:3 for הוכִיחַ.

This verb which is read in the TR of Judges 1:15 occurs in an official letter of B.C. 117, P Tebt I. 25.14 καὶ ὡς ἕν τι παραδώσιν ὑπαρξόντων τῶν ἐξελεγξέντων (l.—όντων) ὑμᾶς. See also Syll 237.8 (Delphi—end of iii/B.C.) ἐξήλεγξαν τοὺς ἱεροσυληκότας, OGIS 669.58 (i/A.D.) ἐὰν δέ τις ἐξελεγχθῆι ψευσά [μενος.
