1. of Place, thither, hither, Od. 15.492, S. Ph. 304, Th. 6.36, etc.
2. after Hom. more freq., = ἔνθα, here or there, ἐνθάδε αὐτοῦ μένων Ar. V. 765; in this world, opp. the nether-world, Pi. O. 2.57, Pl. Grg. 525b; ὁ δ' εὔκολος μὲν ἐνθάδ' εὔκολος δ' ἐκεῖ Ar. Ra. 82; οἱ ἐ., opp. οἱ κάτω, A. Supp. 923, S. Ant. 75; also, the people of this country, Id. OC 42; τοῖς ἐνθάδ' αὐτοῦ ib. 78; τις τῶν ἐνθάδ' αὐτοῦ Eup. 357; τὰ ἐνθάδε, opp. τὰ ἐκεῖ, Th. 6.17.

P Oxy I. 37i. 9 (A.D. 49) (= Selections, p. 49) ἐγένετο ἐνθάδε ἡ τροφεῖτις εἰς υἱὸν τοῦ Πεσούριος, ib. VIII. 1154.10 (late i/A.D.) αὐτόπτης γὰρ εἰμὶ τῶν τόπων καὶ οὐκ εἰμὶ ξέν [ο ]ς τῶν ἐνθάδε, ";for I am personally acquainted with these places and am not a stranger here"; (Ed.), ib. X. 1296.5 (iii/A.D.) τὸ προσκύνημά σου ποιῶ καθ᾽ ἑκάστην ἡμέραν παρὰ τοῖς ἐνθάδε θεοῖς, ";before the gods of this place,"; and so often, P Ryl II. 234.17 (ii/A.D.) εἰ βούλει παραμεῖναί με ἐνθάδε μετὰ τῶν ἀνθρώπων, ib. 244.11 (iii/A.D.) τὰ σωμάτια πολλοῦ ἐστιν ἐνθά [δ ]ε καὶ οὐ συμφέρει ἀγοράσαι, ";slaves are very dear here and it is inexpedient to buy."; In PSI III. 177.7 ff. (ii/iii A.D.) ἐ. is interchanged with ὧδε —δ [έδια ] μὴ ἀποθάνῃ σου μὴ ὄν [τος ἐν ]θάδε. μάθε δὲ ὅτι, ἐὰν ἀ [ποθάνῃ ] σου μὴ ὄντος ὧδε κτλ. For ἐ. = ";hither,"; as in John 4:15 f., Acts 25:17, see P Oxy VI. 967 (ii/A.D.) φασὶ τὸν κράτιστον ἡγεμόνα ἐλεύσεσθαι ἐνθάδε περὶ τὴν τριακάδα, ὃ ἵν᾽ εἰδῇς γράφω σοι, and the early Christian letter P Grenf II. 73.8 (late iii/A.D.) (= Selections, p. 118) οἱ νεκροτάφοι ἐνηνόχασιν ἐνθάδε εἰς τὸ ἔγω (l. ἔσω) τὴν Πολιτικήν. Contrast Preisigke 1810 Παρθ ]ενίων. . ἵκετο ἔνθα. For the meaning ";at this point"; cf. P Ryl II. 215.47 (ii/A.D.) where after a list of official accounts we find—καὶ ἐνθάδε κατ᾽ ἀκολουθίαν τοῦ προτέρου ἔτ [ου ]ς ἀναλαμβάνεται κτλ., ";here are introduced according to the precedent of the previous year"; certain additional sums : cf. P Oxy XII. 1434.8 (A.D. 107–8).
