ἐμβῐβ-άζω,
1. Att. fut. -βιβῶ, causal of ἐμβαίνω, set in or on, τινὰ ὡς εἰς ὄχημα Pl. Ti. 41e; ἐ. εἰς ἴχνος Id. Tht. 193c: — Pass., to be put into, take a bath, Herod.Med. ap. Orib. 10.37.16.
2. put on board ship, cause to embark, ἄνδρας ἐς κελήτιον (v.l. for ἐς-) Th. 1.53; εἰς πλοῖα X. An. 5.3.1; ἐ. ναυσίν Plu. Ant. 7, cf. Charito 8.3: abs., put on board, X. An. 5.7.8, etc.: — Med., ἐμβιβασάμενος αὐτοὺς εἰς τὰς ναῦς Id. HG 5.1.19.

ἐμβιβάζω: 1 aorist ἐνεβίβασα; to put in or on, lead in, cause to enter; as often in the Greek writings τινα εἰς τό πλοῖον: Acts 27:6.

P Flor I. 56.17 (A.D. 234) ἐμβιβάσαι με εἰς τὰ [κ ]α ̣ταγρα (φέντα) : cf. ib. 55.31 (A.D. 88–96), PSI IV. 282.16 (A.D. 183). See also Syll 266.14 (B.C. 200–199) ἐθελοντὴς [ν ]αύτας δώδεκα ἐνεβίβασεν. For ἐκβιβάζω cf. P Oxy XII. 1483.16 (ii/iii A.D.) ἐὰν μὴ. . . ἐγβιβάσῃς τὰ [πρ ]ὸς σὲ ζητούμενα, ";unless you discharge the claims made against you"; (Edd.), and see Michel 883.38 (beginning ii/B.C.), where in a list of victors at the Panathenaea mention is made of a chariot-driver—ἡνίοχος ἐγβιβάζων.
