vigour, strength, Epicur. Ephesians 1 p.31U.; of plants, Thphr. HP 7.4.11: metaph. of sound, loudness, Amarant. ap. Ath. 10.415a; of style or expression, force, Aristid. Quint. 2.9. II abundance, 2 Corinthians 8:20. (In Hom. v.l. for ἀνδροτής, q.v.)
ἁδρότης (Rec.st ἀδρ.), (ητος, ἡ, or better (cf. Alexander Buttmann (1873) Ausf. Spr. ii. 417) ἁδροτής, (ῆτος (on the accent cf. Ebeling, Lex. Homer under the word; Chandler §§ 634, 635), (from ἁδρός thick, stout, full-grown, strong, rich (2 Kings 10:6, 11, etc.)), in Greek writings it follows the significance of the adjective ἁδρός; once in the N. T.: 2 Corinthians 8:20, bountiful collection, great liberality, (R. V. bounty). (ἁδροσύνη, of an abundant harvest, Hesiod ἐργ. 471.)

In Wilcken Ostr. ii. 1600 (ii/A.D.) ἁδροκ appears twice, representing presumably something from ἁδρός. The adjective occurs in BGU III. 781vi. 2 (i/A.D.) πατέλλον ἁδρόν.
