Now if your countryman becomes destitute and cannot support ... himself among you, you are to help him {as you would} a foreigner or stranger, so that he can continue to live among you.

If your brother becomes poor and cannot maintain himself with you you shall support him as though he were a stranger and a sojourner and he shall live with you

"If your brother becomes destitute and cannot sustain himself among you, you are to support him as a foreigner or temporary resident, so that he can continue to live among you.
