Berean Study Bible
At this, David summoned the Gibeonites and spoke to them. (Now the Gibeonites were not Israelites ..., but - a remnant of the Amorites. The Israelites ... had taken an oath concerning them, ... but in his zeal for Israel ... and Judah, Saul had sought to kill them.)
English Standard Version
So the king called the Gibeonites and spoke to them Now the Gibeonites were not of the people of Israel but of the remnant of the Amorites Although the people of Israel had sworn to spare them Saul had sought to strike them down in his zeal for the people of Israel and Judah
Holman Christian Standard Version
The Gibeonites were not Israelites but rather a remnant of the Amorites. The Israelites had taken an oath concerning them, but Saul had tried to kill them in his zeal for the Israelites and Judah. So David summoned the Gibeonites and spoke to them.
King James Version
And the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them; (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn unto them: and Saul sought to slay them in his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah.)
Lexham English Bible
So the king called the Gibeonites and spoke to them. Now the Gibeonites were not from the Israelites⌋they were from the remainder of the Amorites. Now the Israelites⌋⌊Israelites
New American Standard Version
So the king called the Gibeonites and spoke to them (now the Gibeonites were not of the sons of Israel but of the remnant of the Amorites, and the sons of Israel made a covenant with them, but Saul had sought to kill them in his zeal for the sons of Israel and Judah).
World English Bible
The king called the Gibeonites, and said to them (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn to them: and Saul sought to kill them in his zeal for the children of Israel and Judah);
