Berean Study Bible
But you can thwart the counsel of Ahithophel for me if you return to the city and say to Absalom: will be your servant, my king; in the past was your father''s servant, but now will be your servant.'
English Standard Version
But if you return to the city and say to Absalom I will be your servant O king as I have been your father's servant in time past so now I will be your servant then you will defeat for me the counsel of Ahithophel
Holman Christian Standard Version
but if you return to the city and tell Absalom, 'I will be your servant, my king! Previously, I was your father's servant, but now I will be your servant,' then you can counteract Ahithophel's counsel for me.
King James Version
But if thou return to the city, and say unto Absalom, I will be thy servant, O king; as I have been thy father's servant hitherto, so will I now also be thy servant: then mayest thou for me defeat the counsel of Ahithophel.
Lexham English Bible
but if you want to return to the city and say to Absalom, 'I am your servant, O king. I used to be a servant of your father, but from then and now I will be your servant,' then you can frustrate the counsel of Ahithophel for me.
