Rabbi at Alexandria, Egypt, from 1802 to 1827; died 1827; son of Israel Israel, who had held the rabbinate from 1773 to 1784. He was a disciple of Jonathan Galante, and presided over an academy at Alexandria which bore the name "Midrash Rab Yedidyah." He wrote several responsa, some of which have been published in the works of Rabbi Abbahu; also annotations to "Kisse Eliyahu" on the Shulḥan 'Aruk. His treatise "Mazkeret ha-Giṭṭin," on divorce, is still in manuscript.
