jam´nı̄ts ( Ἰαμνῖται , Iamnı́tai ): The inhabitants ( 2 Maccabees 12:9 ) of Jamnia, the ancient Jabneel, a town on the northern border of Judah near the sea. Its port and navy were burned by Judas Maccabeus (loc. cit.).
