bē̇ -lı̄ ´: Is the translation of בּחשׁ , kāḥash , "to be untrue" (Jeremiah 5:12 ), "They have belied the Lord" (the American Standard Revised Version "denied Yahweh"), here used as synonym of "give the lie to."

In The Wisdom of Solomon 1:11 "belle" translates καταψεύδομαι , katapseúdomai (the kata prefix referring to the kata in katalaliá in the same verse), "A mouth that belieth destroyeth a soul.»
