Premonstratensian physicist, born Senftenberg, Bohemia, 1698; died Prenditz, Moravia, 1765. He constructed the instruments necessary for his experiments in hydraulics and electricity; was among the first to apply electricity to the treatment of disease; and erected a lightning-rod at Prenditz, 1754, before Franklin's suggestions on the subject were known.
