Born June 24, 1663 at Hyères; died September 28, 1742 at Clermont, France. Celebrated preacher and bishop. He entered the Congregation of the Oratory at the age of 18, and after his ordination began his career as a preacher which was to give him rank with Bossuet and Bourdaloue.
