King of East Anglia, born probably Nuremberg, Germany, c.840;died Hoxne, England, 870. He was crowned King of East Anglia, 855. Refusing, because of his faith, to accept the terms of the Danish invaders, Hingvar and Hubba, he was beaten with cudgels, pierced with arrows, and beheaded. Emblems: an arrow, and sword. His relics were preserved at Abbey of Saint Edmundsbury. Feast, November 20,.
