(French: loucheur, squinter)

A group of closely related Dene tribes, called also Kutchin and Tukkuthkutchin, found in northwestern Canada and Alaska. East of the Rockies they have a patriarchal system, while in the west they have a matriarchy with clans and totems. The eastern Loucheux are now Catholics and a Jesuit mission has been established for the western branch.
