A Sethite, father of Henoch, son of Malaleel (Genesis 5). He lived 162 years. Jared should be distinguished from Irad mentioned in Genesis 4, as the Son of Henoch. In the latter passage is given the genealogy of Cainites, whereas in Genesis 5, is given the genealogy of Sethites.
