Erected as the Vicariate Apostolic of Athabaska Mackenzie on April 8, 1862 as a suffragan of Edmonton. The Vicariate Apostolic of Athabaska was split off on July 3, 1901. The name was changed to the Vicariate Apostolic of Grouard on March 15, 1927. Elevated to the Archdiocese of Grouard-McLennan on July 13, 1967. See also:
